If you want to provide piano lessons for kids, keep in mind that their attention span is shorter than an adult’s.   This also means, of course, that they can easily learn MORE.  For this reason, your child should be able to learn as many instruments as possible.  You never know if your kid is the next pianist who will become the next icon in the music industry.

If your child seems to have an interest in the piano, then go ahead and get lessons for him/her.  Hiring a private instructor will be a worthy investment if you can’t go about teaching children piano yourself.

Children get easily frustrated, so you will have to be creative if you plan to let your child be the musician that you want him or her to be.  Let him or her enjoy while learning.  Your kid may not know the essence of why you keep nagging him/her to play, but in the future you will be thanked for your efforts.

To get your kid really interested, buy a keyboard or piano.  Put it in a room where it can be easy accessed.  Better yet, play it yourself!  Make your child see that you’re actually touching the piano.  This will toggle his/her curiosity and, before you know it, your child will want beginner piano lessons!

Now, if you see the sudden interest in your kid, it is time to gather up all the needed materials to do the teaching.   Normally, the equipment involved would be the piano itself, music sheets, time, and patience.  Children are always playful.  Even when your child is being stubborn, you must invest a lot of patience in order to keep the lessons going.

Here are some of the matters that you must consider before starting the lessons.

Time – Kids have a lot of things to keep them busy, including school, friends, and playtime.  It can be hard to insert even a minute of your time with all these activities.  Squeeze in the piano time by making a detailed schedule.  Factor in his or her activities and routine into the kids piano lessons.  Be sure to plan at least 2 – 3 lessons per week, for about an hour per lesson.

Fun – Instill into your child that learning to play the piano has many benefits.  Learning any musical instrument does not have to come out as a punishment or task.  Be sure that your child is actually enjoy each lesson.  You need to think of ways to make it enjoyable and fun by doing things like giving your child rewards every time a new chord is learned correctly.  Strictness will make it stressful on the child, and he or she will start to think that the lessons are a bore or punishment.  Also, don’t get angry if your kid plays around with the keys.  It’s actually a good thing!

Support – You need to always be there during your child’s beginning piano lessons to lend your support.  Your presence is vital.  Make sure you demonstrate every single key before having your child try.  Afterwards, ask him/her to identify the keys that have been pressed.  Always be sure to praise your kid for a job well done when learning the piano!
